In 1991, the U.S. Mint issued a half dollar commemorating the 50th anniversary of the completion of Mount Rushmore. The coin is modern clad metal composition, and on the face of it is a rendition of the figures on Mount Rushmore, along with the date and inscription "LIBERTY", and "MOUNT RUSHMORE". The reverse side is lettered "United States of America" and "Half Dollar", in the center is an American Bison with the header "Golden Anniversary". This coin is in original mint uncirculated conditon with the original box. The coin is sealed in plastic for protection, and was then put into a nice cardboard presentation box. A certificate of authenticity issued by the U.S. Mint is also included. According to mint records, only 172,754 of these were struck, that sounds like a big number, but as most coins are struck in the millions, this makes for a good possibility for future value increases for this coin.
