This is a lucite paperweight with a first year of issue 1971 Eisenhower dollar embedded in it. The piece is jewel shaped, it can be rested on any of its "facets" to show the coin facing front. Measures 4 1/2" in diameter and about 2" tall.
The Eisenhower dollar coin was authorized by Congress shortly after "Ike" passed away, and 1971 is the first year of issue. 1971 marked the first time the U.S. had minted a large size dollar coin since the last Peace dollars were minted in 1935.
We purchased these at an estate sale, they were made in the 1970's, but were never used, and are still in the original box.
