Old Coin Treasure Chest- Contains a wide assortment of old U.S. coins. We have put these treasure chest assortments together, using our low wholesale coin prices. Sell the treasure chest as is, or break down the coins and sell individually. Either way, you will make a good profit reselling these coins! Or, they make a great gift for the beginning or novice coin collector. Each treasure chest is guaranteed to contain the following collectible U.S. Coins:

-50 assorted Lincoln "Wheat Ear" pennies: These were minted between 1909 to 1958, when the reverse side was changed to the Lincoln Memorial design. All are now at least 50+ years old. Unlike the newer pennies which contain a high percentage of zinc, these "wheaties" are mostly copper. As the copper content of these coins are worth far more than their face value , these old pennies are seldom if ever seen in circulation any longer, and become more scarce every year.

-1 Jefferson "War Nickel": These nickels were produced during the World War II years, 1943-45. They differ from ordinary Jefferson Nickels in that they contain 35% pure silver. The silver was used during the war years due to the shortage of metals normally used to mint nickels during the war. These nickels can be identified not only by the date, but they have a large mint mark above the dome on the reverse side. This coin is unique in American coinage history in that it was the first coin ever to feature a "P" mint mark for the Philadelphia mint. All coins produced up until that time (and most since) have no mint mark if they are made at the Philadelphia mint. These large mint marks were added to the war nickels so that they could be more easily pulled from circulation after the war and melted down to reclaim their silver content.

- 3 Buffalo Nickels: Made between 1913-1937. These very popular collector coins tended to have the dates wear off over time in circulation due to the way they were designed. All buffalo nickels shipped with these sets have a full 4 digit date.

-1 Liberty Nickel: These old coins are all over 100 years old, and are now seen only in coin collections. These were the nickels commonly in circulation in the years they were made, between 1883-1912. These are also known as "V" nickels, due to the large Roman Numeral on the reverse side that denotes the denomination.

-2 90% Silver Mercury dimes: These 10 cent pieces, an all time favorite with collectors, were minted between 1916 and 1945, and were made in all 3 U.S. mints active during this period (Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco). Each one of these coins contains 0.071502 troy ounces of pure silver.

-1 Indian Head Cent: These seldom seen cents were minted at the Philadelphia mint from 1859 to 1909, and were also produced at the San Francisco Mint in 1908 and 1909. The coin was designed by Charles Barton Longacre, chief engraver at the U.S. Mint from 1844-1869. This coin was discontinued in 1909, when it was replaced by the Lincoln cent.

-2 Steel Wartime Cents: During World War II copper production was needed for the war effort, so from 1942-1945 the formulation of the Lincoln cent was changed, using steel coated zinc instead of copper. These steel cents are seldom seen today.

All coins in the treasure chest are in nice average circulated condition, all have full legible dates.

Collection comes housed in a wood & leather treasure chest with metal hasp.
